EGW ON
THE TRINITY

NOTE:  SDA’s, the editors may have added the word “Persons,” as before this time EGW only used the definition of “distinct personalities.”

“Let not the theory be presented that God would dwell in the soul-temple of a wicked man.  No greater falsehood could be presented.  ‘Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their word; that they all may be one; as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be one in us.’  These words present God and Christ as two distinct personalities.”  1NL:124.

Note:  But “One God.”

“I have often seen the lovely Jesus, that He is a Person.  I asked Him if His Father was a Person and had a form like Himself.  Said Jesus, ‘I Am in the express image of My Father’s Person.’ ”  2SG:74.2; EW:77.1.

“The Lord Jesus Christ, the Divine Son of God, existed from eternity, a distinct Person[age], yet One with the Father.”  1SM:247; FLB:46; LHU:16; 5BC:1126; RH, April 5, 1906; 7BC:440.

“God is a Person and Christ is a Person.  Christ is spoken of in the Word as ‘the brightness of His Father’s glory, and the express image of His Person.’ [Hebrews 1:3].”  1SAT:343.3; 19LtMs, Ms 46, 1904, paragraph 15.

“The man [NOTE:  In His Humanity] Christ Jesus was not the Lord God Almighty, yet Christ and the Father are one.”  5BC:1129.7.

NOTE:  Christ is “The Mighty God,” Isaiah 9:6; while the Father is the Almighty God.  Compare with CT:402.2:  “The angels bow before Him [Christ] in adoration, exclaiming, ‘Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty.’  Revelation 4:8.”

“When you gave yourself to Christ, you made a pledge in the presence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit -- the three great personal Dignitaries of Heaven.  ‘Hold fast’ to this pledge.”  7BC:959.8.

“We have been brought together as a school, and we need to realize that the Holy Spirit, Who is as much a Person as God is a Person, is walking through these grounds,” 7MR:299.2.

“Christians should bear in mind that God has a personality as verily as has Christ.  They should so represent Christ’s Person and conduct that by doing His works they will manifest the character and spirit of the Father.”  10MR:114.2.

“When you gave yourself to Christ, you made a pledge in the presence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit -- the three great personal Dignitaries of Heaven. “Hold fast” to this pledge. 16LtMs, Ms 92, 1901, paragraph 5.

“At our baptism we went down into the water, and were baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.  We made a solemn pledge to God, and these three highest powers of Heaven were pledged in our behalf, that we should be overcomers.”  19LtMs, Ms 158, 1904, paragraph 27.

“There are three living Persons of the Heavenly Trio; in the Name of these three great Powers -- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”  21LtMs, Ms 21, 1906, paragraph 11.

“And then the golden harps are touched, and the music flows all through the Heavenly host, and they fall down and worship the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”  21LtMs, Ms 139, 1906, paragraph 32.

“. . .the music flows all through the heavenly host, and they fall down and worship the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”  21LtMs, Ms 139, 1906, paragraph 32.

“In Christ is life, original, unborrowed, underived.”  DA:530.

“The Holy Spirit is a Person, for He beareth witness with our spirits that we are the children of God.”  Ev:616.6.

“The Holy Spirit has a personality, else He could not bear witness to our spirits and with our spirits that we are the children of God.  He must also be a Divine Person, else He could not search out the secrets which lie hidden in the mind of God.  ‘For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.’ ”  Ev:617.1; Manuscript 20, 1906.

“John, the beloved disciple, bears witness: [John 1:1-4 & 14-16: 3:34-36 quoted].  In this Scripture God and Christ are spoken of as two distinct personalities, each acting in Their Own individuality.”  MR760:18.2.

“Let cheerful freewill-offerings be brought to the Lord, let us consecrate to Him all that we are, and all that we have, and then may we all unite to swell the songs, {RH January 4, 1881, paragraph 18}

‘Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye Heavenly host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.’ ”  RH, January 4, 1881, paragraph’s 18-19.

“On Sabbath, April 27, many of our brethren and sisters from neighboring Churches gathered in the parlors with the Sanitarium family, and I spoke to them there.  I read the First Chapter of Hebrews as the basis of my discourse.  This Chapter clearly indicates the individual personalities of the Father and the Son.”   RH, August 1, 1907 paragraph 8.

“There are Three Living Persons of the Heavenly Trio; in the Name of These Three Great Powers -- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit -- those who receive Christ by living faith are baptized, and these Powers will co-operate with the obedient subjects of Heaven in their efforts to live the new life in Christ.”  Special Testimonies, Series B, Number 7, pages 62 & 63. (1906); Ev:615; HP:336; 7ABC:441-442; SpTB07:63; BTS, March 1, 1906 paragraph 2.

“The prince of the power of evil can be held in check only by the power of God in the Third Person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit.”  Special Testimony, Number 10, page 37.

So many others.  But this is a good foundation.

NOTE AGAIN:  SDA’s, the editors may have added the word “Persons,” as before this time EGW only used the definition of “distinct personalities.”
