BLOOD MOONS
(Or,
The Four Blood Moons)

A) INTRODUCTION.

B) TO THE BIBLE.

C) CONCLUSION.

A) INTRODUCTION

Calling the moons four phases “Blood Moons” is cute but misleading and inaccurate.  For the moon to turn into “blood” is not an astronomical event.  That would be an atmospheric event.

B) TO THE BIBLE

The doctrine is taken from Joel 3:28-32, which is quoted again in Acts 2:16-21.

Here is Joel:

2:28:  And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

2:29:  And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

2:30:  And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

2:31:  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

2:32:  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Here is Acts:

2:16:  But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

2:17:  And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

2:18:  And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

2:19:  And I will shew wonders in Heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

2:20:  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

2:21:  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

C) CONCLUSION

Now let’s put these verses into context.  If we go to the beginning of the Second Chapter of Joel, we find that, verses 1-2:  “(1) for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; (2) A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness.”  And here is verses 3-7:

3)  A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth:  the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

4) The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

5) Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

6) Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.

7) They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:

It should be obvious to you now that this is speaking about “war.”  Verse 2 stated, “A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness.”  This is what the moon turning into blood means and is.  It is not a “blood moon” when you have an eclipse.  It just turns the moon into a reddish heugh.  However, IT IS A SIGN.  And the Almighty put these signs into place so that we can know when the time of our Lord’s Coming is near.  Or in the case of the verses below, when it is.

Isaiah 13:10:  “For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkenedin his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.”

Isaiah 24:23:  “Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.”

Joel 2:10:  “The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble:  the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.”

Joel 2:30-31:  “[30] And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. [31] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.”

Joel 3:15:  “The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.”

Amos 5:20:  “Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?”

Zephaniah 1:14-15:  “[14] The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD:  the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. [15] That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness.”

Matthew 24:29:  “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.”

Mark 13:24:  “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light.”

Luke 21:25:  “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.”

Revelation 6:12:  “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.”
