JEWISH REJECTION OF JESUS

A) INTRODUCTION.

B) TO THE REASONS.

A) INTRODUCTION

To my Jewish Brothers and sisters, please see first my Bible Study:  “JEWS TO CONSIDER, FOR.”

To ignore all of the prophecies about the suffering Messiah and only focus upon the success of Israel ‘s triumphs (selflessness), is to close your mind to Biblical understanding and discovery.

Every Jew needs to be aware that there are TWO prophetic Messiah’s.  To have the victorious Messiah Come first, only to die the Second time, is to lead to an unthinkable conclusion -- that Messiah’s entire purpose dies in the end.  Any victories won at the First Coming will amount to nothing if at His Second Coming all perish with Him.  All the victories of the First Coming will amount to nothing at His Second appearing.

Now we must also consider that most Jews at this point will not read further.  Because according to the Rabbinic hierarchy, their Messiah never dies.  This is why they must first read my Bible Study:  “JEWS TO CONSIDER, FOR,” which gives Scriptural proof of the suffering, dying Messiah in the “Torah” and the rest of their and our Old Testament Scriptures.  In fact, if we can get our Jewish cousins to examine their own writings about the dying Messiah, both religions would join together.

Also ignored by Jewish scholars, is Daniel 9:26, which teaches them that the Messiah would be “cut off” before the destruction of the second Temple in 70 A.D.  This should surely point them to the suffering Messiah appearing first.  To fail to realize that Messiah would fulfil both roles at different times is Biblical blasphemy.  His First Coming is for redemption; while His Second Coming is for restoration.

For facts about Messiah’s Suffering aspects and proven First Coming events, see my Bible Study:  “PROPHECIES OF MESSIAH’S FIRST COMING.”

B) TO THE REASONS

1) According to Isaiah 2:4, the Messiah would bring world peace.

However, they ignore verse 2, which states this would take place “in the last days.”  Comon Sense should tell them that since this event is to take place “in the last days,” then their suffering Messiah event should proceed that event.

2) According to Isaiah 11:10-12 (see also Ezekiel 36:24 & 37:21), all Jews will be reunited “from the four corners of the earth.”

However again, they ignore verse 11, which tells them, “in that day.”  What “day” is that?  “In the last days” as in Isaiah 2:4.  Plus, this is a prophecy of the Second Coming of Christ which they cannot understand, since to them, Messiah has not Come the First Time.

3) According to Ezekiel 37:26-28, a third temple will be rebuilt.

By contrast, it has ALWAYS been misunderstood that ALL prophecies, with exception of time prophecies, are CONDITIONAL.  And the condition in this case is found in verse 23, that they “shall [not] defile themselves any more.”  Which of course, they still did and still do.  Therefore, a third Temple will never be built upon this earth until it is made new, if even then, for our Lord will be the Temple thereof.

4) According to Zechariah 14:3-5, Messiah brings victory to Israel.

Ignored is the fact of Zechariah 9:9, about their Messiah Coming “lowly,” meaning “humbly,” and “riding upon an ass,” prior to, proceeding before, the events of Chapter 14.  Getting to TWO event Messiah’s in proper order would be helpful here.

5) According to various verses, specifically Jeremiah 23:5-6 (Psalm 72:8-11; Isaiah 9:6-7; Ezekiel 37:24-25), The Messiah will not be of Divine origin, but only be a man descended from the line of king David, with kingly powers.  And according to Deuteronomy 6:4, the Jewish God is “one,” and He shares His glory and power with no one.  In particular, of human origin.  Therefore, Messiah must be an earthly king and not a magnification of God in the flesh.

In Jeremiah 23:6, the Holy Name of God (“Jehovah”) is ignored as a Title for this Personage.  And the ignorance of not seeing the Godly Individual in Isaiah 9:6 is astounding.  Also ignored are passages such as Psalm 110:1, where Two distinct Divine Personages are displayed.  Christians see Matthew 22:42-46.  And Isaiah 7:14 would teach the Jewish nation that “Immanuel,” meaning, “God with us,” would be Divinely displayed in Human form.

6) According to Deuteronomy 21:23, the Messiah would not die until fulfilling His mission of restoring the world (Israel).  Plus, the fact that Jesus was crucified and hanged upon a tree, disqualifies Him as being the Messiah, since He would have been “accursed of God,” instead of being God’s Anointed.  In fact, the “Talmud,” in Sanhedrin 43a, mentions that Jesus was condemned for “witchcraft and idolatry.”  This uphold the Rabbinic view that Jesus was not sacrificed for redemptive purposes; but for punishment.

By contrast, Rabbis ALWAYS ignore Isaiah, Chapter 53 (specifically verse 3-5; see also such verses as Psalm 22:16 & Zechariah 12:10), even though they quote the Book of Isaiah to prove other objections they may have.  This Chapter is only one large KEY to open the proper understanding of the First mission of the Jewish Messiah.  Christians see Galatians 3:13.

7) According to Deuteronomy 12:32, the Torah cannot, nor should it be changed.  Here is a change in Rabbinic thought process.  They use the New Testament, that’s right, the New Testament, to prove that Jesus changed the Laws of the “Torah,” in Matthew 5:21-22.  And in Mark 7:18-19, where Leviticus Chapter 11 specifically establishes which foods are impure and not to be eaten.  The “Talmud,” in Shabbat 116a, mentions that Jesus’ followers “distorted the Law and promoted new teachings.”

Of course, a misunderstanding of Jesus purifying the eating of rats and pigs is not what is meant in Mark 7:18-19.  See my Bible Study:  “DIET, DINNING GOD’S WAY.”  Plus, for the Messiah to expound upon the elegance of God’s Law is only further proof of His being the promised Messiah.

For centuries Jews have missed the New Covenant, as promised in Jeremiah 31:31-33, that places God’s Law within one’s heart (mind), as opposed to the warring of them upon the forehead as Jews do today.

For Christians, see Matthew 5:17, where Jesus affirms the validity of the Law of God.  There are too many verses to list of Christ upholding the permanence of God’s Holy Law.

8) That Isaiah, Chapter 53, only speaks about the nation of Israel, and not a Coming Messianic figure.  In this Jewish interpretation, this Chapter is known as the “Servant Song,” carried out in a series of passages found in Isaiah, Chapters 42, 49 (see verse 3), 50, and then, Chapter 53.  In several of these passages in the Chapters previous to Chapter 53, the “servant” is specifically identified as “Israel.”  Thus, they conclude, that since previous Chapters identify the “servant” as “Israel,” it is therefore logical to interpret Isaiah 53 in this way.  In the ”Targum Of Isaiah,” it interprets Isaiah, Chapter 53, as applying to the nation of Israel.  In fact, it is a known custom of Rabbinic Rabbis to place Israel always in such a selfish way (prominence), as to ignore the true meaning of the passages that go contrary to their narrative.

This interpretation ignores the Biblical prerogative of prophetic passages as being subject to a non-interpretation for Prophetic reasoning.  Are we to do this type of reasoning to all passages in which we do not like the prophecy thereof?

In Isaiah 53:8, we can clearly see that this is not speaking of the nation of Israel, but an individual Personage.  Here, the Servant suffers for the people of Israel.  Thus, it cannot refer to the nation of Israel, for it does not redeem the servant.  In verse 12, the passage speaks of the literal death of an Individual, and not the death of a nation (Israel).  The reason for this death is found in verse 5.  The nation of Israel, nor any nation, does not accomplish this act.  Atonement for sin is not made by a nation, but only by the acts of an Individual; the promised Messiah.  See Isaih 53:10.

In the “El Talmud,” “Tratado De Rosh Hashana,” in Sanhedrin 98B, there is mention of a Messiah called, “The Lepper,” Who suffers for the sins of Israel, which reflects to the image of the Servant in Isaiah 53.  The “Midrash,” in Root Chapter 5, verse 6, also describes the Messiah as One Who dies to atone for the sins of the people.  In other Jewish literature, the “El Zohar,” 177b, states that “the Messiah will bear the punishment for the sins of Israel.”  This coincides with the teachings of Christian denominations for centuries.  These references show that the concept of a suffering Messiah was not alien to ancient Judaism.

9) The other arguments are that Christians ignore the “Torah,” by changing Its meanings.  That Christians interpret the “Torah” as being fulfilled in Jesus.  Christianity introduced new doctrines separate from standard Judaism, such as the dead going to Heaven or hell at death.  See my Bible Study:  “DEATH, THE BIBLICAL TRUTH ABOUT.”  That the teaching of the “Trinity” contradicts the absolute Monotheism (Deuteronomy 6:4) of Judaism.  Christianity teaches that one must believe in Jesus; while Jews teach that salvation is obtained by being observant of the Laws of the Torah.  They miss the fact that true Christians also teach observance of Gods Laws.

Do to these and other objections, in one work, the “Mishne Tora Iad Hajazaka,” Jesus is described as the One Who led many to stray from God Law.  Thus, beginning in the second century, Christians were not allowed to worship in Jewish Synagogues.  This disregards such passages as Isaiah 49:6 and others.  And don’t forget Genesis 12:3.

In regards to the Trinity Doctrine.  It does not deny the Monotheism of the Godhead.  Rather, it expounds upon it.  What do Jewish Rabbis do with such passages as Genesis 1:26, “Us,” and “Our.?”

10) Lastly, had Jesus been the promised Messiah, the Jewish Rabbis of His day would have recognized Him as being so.  His rejection by the Rabbis and the Sanhedrin is proof that Jesus failed to live up to Messianic expectation.  Thus, according to Rabbinic Judaism, the Messiah will be immediately recognized and accepted as such.

These ignore the Fact that the Scriptures teach that the Messiah would be rejected by His Own people.  See Psalm 118:22 & Isaiah 53:3 & Zechariah 12:10.

For Christians, Jesus prophesied in John 5:43, that if a man comes claiming to be the Messiah, the Jews will receive him.  For they have rejected the true Messiah and are not prepared for this deception.  Any takers for Jewish fame?
