INTRODUCTION

 

The Bible Teaches Us To Pray Always.  See Psalm 62:8; Luke 21:36; Acts 12:5; Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 1:9.

 

“Satan cannot endure to have his powerful rival appealed to, for he fears and trembles before His strength and majesty.  At the sound of fervent prayer, Satan’s whole host trembles.” 1T:346.

 

 

WHY WE SHOULD PRAY

 

 

Because It Teaches Us To Trust Him At All Times, Psalm 62:8: “Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour

outyour heart before Him:  God is a refuge for us.  Selah.”

 

Because We Seek For God With All Our Hearts, Jeremiah 29:11-13: “[11] For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. [12] Then shall ye call upon Me, and ye shall go and pray unto Me, and I will hearken unto you. [13] And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.”

 

Because We Are Told To Ask, Matthew 7:7: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”

 

Because We Are Weak, Matthew 26:41: “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation:  the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

 

Also, Because We May Need To Cast Out Demons, Mark 9:29: “And He said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.”

Note:  Don’t Ignore The “fasting” Mentioned.

 

Because It Will Increase Your Faith, Mark 11:24: “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

Note:  Remember, Prayer Doesn’t Change God, Prayer Changes Us.

 

Because, It Will Lead Us Into A Salvational Relationship With Our Lord, Luke 21:36: “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

 

Because God Wants It Done (His Will), John 15:7: “If ye abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

 

Because Of Unjustified Government Actions, Acts 12:5: “Peter therefore was kept in prison:  but prayer was made without ceasing of the Church unto God for him.”

 

Because Others Might Be Saved, Romans 10:1: “Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.”

 

Because, We Are Fighting Against The Powers Of Darkness, Ephesians 6:12: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

 

Because God Wants To Hear From Us, Philippians 4:6: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

 

Because We Need To Know The Will Of God, Colossians 1:9: “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His Will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.”

 

Because We Need To Pray For Others; And For God’s Pleasure and Power, Second Thessalonians 1:11: “Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power.”

 

Because We Need To Pray For Others Needs, First Timothy 2:1: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.”

 

Because God Listens To The Righteous, First Peter 3:12: “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers:  but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”

 

Because We Don’t Want To Ask Outside Of God’s Will, James 4:3: “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”

 

Because Our Prayers Can Change Things, James 5:16: “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

 

Because We Need Our Sins Cleansed, First John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

 

Because We Can Have Confidence In Answered Prayer With A Condition, First John 5:14: “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His Will, He heareth us.”
