THE LAW OF MOSES
(And The Law Of God)

A) INTRODUCTION.

B) THE LAW OF MOSES.

A) INTRODUCTION

In actuality, God Commanded both of these, the Ten Commandments and the Law of Moses; and as such, they are BOTH the Laws of God.

If we go to Second Kings 21:8, we learn that God says to “observe to do according to all that I have Commanded,” meaning the Ten Commandments.  And then God concludes with, “and according to all the Law that My servant Moses Commanded,” which was given to Moses by God Himself.  See my Bible Study:  “(613) THE LAWS OF THE OLD TESTAMENT.”

We can see the distinction between the two Laws again in Daniel 9:11, where “all Israel have transgressed Thy Law,” the Ten Commandments, “and the oath that is written in the Law of Moses,” being of course, the Law of Moses.

According to Acts 15:21, the Law of Moses was “being read in the Synagogues every Sabbath day.”  If you check out my Bible Study on the 613 Laws, i.e., the Law of Moses, you will find that they are just as binding today (such as not having sex with your father’s wife), as they were then, with a few variations.

B) THE LAW OF MOSES

However, God does distinguish between both Laws.  We can know that God personally wrote the Ten Commandments “upon two tables of stone,” Deuteronomy 4:13, not trusting revelation or mans conjectures to decipher them before man wrote them down.

Whereas, according to Deuteronomy 31:9, “Moses wrote this Law,” what we now know as, “The Law of Moses,” and instructed the Levities to “Take this Book of the Law, and put it in the side of the Ark of the Covenant.”  Deuteronomy 31:26.  By contrast, the Ten Commandment Law was put in the Ark of the Covenant (1Ki. 8:9).

If we go to Deuteronomy 4:14, we can clearly see that the Law of Moses is really also the Law of God.  Quoting, “And the LORD Commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them.”

The objections come with the portions of the Law of Moses that deal with the “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances” in Colossians 2:14.  See also Ephesians 2:14.  The “ordinances” are those Laws that dealt with the Sanctuary services that are no longer necessary, for our Lord’s death covers those (see Rom. 8:1-3).  By contrast, “ordinances” have no reference to, nor meaning of, God’s Ten Commandment Law.  If you checked Romans 8:1-3, you can also see that verses 4&7 tells us that the Ten Commandment Law specifically, and all of God’s Laws, are still in effect.

See also First Corinthians 7:19, where the portion of the Law of Moses that dealt with “Circumcision” has changed, but the “keeping of the Commandments of God,” all of them, is still required.
