FIRST PLAGUE
Rev. 16:2: “And the first went, and poured”
Rev. 8:7: “The first angel sounded”
Rev. 16:2: “poured out his vial upon the earth”
Rev. 8:7: “they were cast upon the earth”
SECOND PLAGUE
Rev. 16:3: “And the second angel poured”
Rev. 8:8: “and the second angel sounded”
Rev. 16:3: “Upon the sea; and it became as the blood”
Rev. 8:8: “cast into the sea. . . the sea became blood”
Note: In Rev. 16 all in the sea die, but in Rev. 8 only 1/3 die.
THIRD PLAGUE
Rev. 16:4: “And the third angel poured”
Rev. 8:10: “And the third angel sounded”
Rev. 16:4: “upon the rivers and fountains of waters”
Rev. 8:10: “the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters”
Note: It appears that in Rev. 16 all the waters are polluted, whereas in Rev. 8 only 1/3 are.
FOURTH PLAGUE
Rev. 16:8: “And the fourth angel poured”
Rev. 8:12: “And the fourth angel sounded”
Rev. 16:8: “poured out his vial upon the sun”
Rev. 8:12: “sun was smitten”
Note: In Rev. 16 the sun is hotter, but in Rev. 8 the sun gives 1/3 less light.
Second Note: Rev. 8:13 is paralleled by Rev. 14:6-7, in which is portrayed “an angel flying through the midst of heaven,” “Saying with a loud voice,” “to the inhabiters of the earth” or “unto them that dwell on the earth.”
FIFTH PLAGUE
Rev. 16:10: “And the fifth angel poured”
Rev. 9:1: “And the fifth angel sounded”
Rev. 16:10: “full of darkness”
Rev. 9:2: “the sun and the air were darkened”
Rev. 16:10: “poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast”
Rev. 9:4: “hurt. . . only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.”
Rev. 16:10-11: “gnawed their tongues for pain. . . pains and their sores”
Rev. 9:4-5: “hurt. . . they should be tormented. . . and their torment was as the torment”
SIXTH PLAGUE
Rev. 16:12: “And the sixth angel poured”
Rev. 9:13: “And the sixth angel sounded”
Rev. 16:12: “the great river Euphrates. . . that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.”
Rev. 9:14-15: “the great river Euphrates. And the four angels [Note: instead of kings of the east] were loosed, which were prepared”
SEVENTH PLAGUE
Rev. 16:17: “And the seventh angel poured”
Rev. 11:15: “And the seventh angel sounded”
Rev. 16:17: “It is done”
Rev. 11:15: “the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord”
Rev. 16:18: “And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake”
Rev. 11:19: “and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake”
Rev. 16:21: “great hail. . . the plague of the hail”
Rev. 11:19: “and great hail.”
