WHO SHOULD BE ANOINTED
(Note: People Only Study: Other Than beings Such As Animals

C) WHAT IS TO BE ANOINTED?

A) WHY BE ANOINTED

Here is why one should be anointed:  “To fill a high place before men, Heaven chooses the worker who, like John the Baptist, takes a lowly place before God.  The most childlike disciple is the most efficient in labor for God.  The Heavenly intelligences can co-operate with him who is seeking, not to exalt self, but to save souls.  He who feels most deeply his need of Divine aid will plead for it; and the Holy Spirit will give unto him glimpses of Jesus that will strengthen and uplift the soul.  From communion with Christ he will go forth to work for those who are perishing in their sins.  He is anointed for his mission; and he succeeds where many of the learned and intellectually wise would fail.”  DA:436.

B) WHO WAS ANOINTED

Satan was anointed:  Ezekiel 28:14.

Prophets are anointed:  Psalm 105:15; First Chronicles 16:22; First Samuel 12:5.

According to Second Corinthians 1:21 & Hebrews 1:9:  All Christians are anointed.

C) WHAT IS TO BE ANOINTED

Our eyes are to be anointed:  John 9:6 & 11; Revelation 3:18.

According to Mark 6:13 & James 5:14-15, we notice that the “sick” are to be “anointed” to make one well.

“On one occasion He {Jesus} anointed the eyes of a blind man with clay and bade him, ‘Go, wash in the pool of Siloam.’ . .  John 9:7 {see verse 11}.”  CH:30.

In Second Chronicles 12:20 & 28:15, there is a type of anointing that literally means “washed” (David in 2Ch. 12:20) them (enemies in 2Sa. 28:15), according to the “Targum.”  In other words, we are to clean up, feed, and clothe our enemies once they are in our control to do so.

Note why Christ was anointed, then apply it to when one should be or could be anointed:  “[8] But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever:  a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of Thy kingdom. [9] Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even Thy God, hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy fellows.”  Hebrews 1:8-9.

In a side note, one can anoint themselves:  Second Samuel 12:20; 14:2; Matthew 6:17 (see also Isa. 61:3).
