The Gospel Of Thomas

(And Why We Don't Use It)

A) INTRODUCTION.

B) TO THE MAIN DOCTRINES.

C) THE CHILDHOOD OF JESUS.

A) INTRODUCTION

Once any book, writing, pamphlet, or whatever is found to contain false doctrines, it no longer needs to be studied or referred to for truth.

B) TO THE DOCTRINES

Page 1) “These are the secret sayings that the living Jesus spoke and Didymos Judas Thomas recorded.  And he [Jesus] said, ‘Whoever discovers the interpretation of these sayings will not taste death.’ ”

If some of Jesus’ sayings were “secret,” or only for “Didymos Judas Thomas,” then we need not know them.  Or, salvation is only to be obtained through these “secret sayings,” i.e., “will not taste death.”  Plus, even if you have these “secret sayings,” you will need to be able to “interpret” them.  All this to say that salvation is no longer through “grace,” but by the “interpretation” of these “secret sayings.”  Therefore, this makes this book of Thomas an absolute necessity.  See the selling point?

Page 114) “Simon Peter said to him [Jesus], ‘Let Mary leave us, for women are not worthy of life.’  Jesus said, ‘I myself shall lead her in order to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males.  For every woman who will make herself male will enter the kingdom of Heaven.’ ”

If you can not see the false doctrine in this, I can’t help you.  This is Gnostic teaching.  The Gnostics also teach that salvation is through “knowledge.”

C) THE CHILDHOOD OF JESUS

The most damming proof of rejections are of Jesus’ childhood.

Jesus kills at least three people.

Somebody bumps Jesus in the street; Jesus turns around and curses him; and he dies.

Jesus mouths off to a teacher; the teacher scolds Him; Jesus curses him; and he dies.

Also, basically, Jesus spouts off a lot of Gnostic sayings.  Conclusion, this is Gnostic nonsense.
