HOW TO AND WHY WORSHIP

Deuteronomy 26:10:  “And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which Thou, O LORD, hast given me.  And thou shalt set it before the LORD thy God, and worship before the LORD thy God.”  Note that “worship” involves brings your offerings (tithe) to the alter.

Joshua 5:14:  “And He said, Nay; but as Captain of the host of the LORD am I now come.  And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto Him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?”  Note the position of “worship.”

First Samuel 15:25:  “Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.”  Note that before “worshiping” one must ask for “pardon” of ones “sins.”

First Samuel 15:30:  “Then he said, I have sinned:  yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God.”  Here is my First Samuel 15:25 Note:

“Saul’s stubbornness in persisting before Samuel that he had obeyed God, was as iniquity and idolatry.  His love to carry out his own will was more desirable to him than to obtain the favor of God, or the approbation of a clear conscience.  And when his sin was opened clearly before him, and his wrong definitely pointed out, his pride of opinion, his excessive self-love, led him to justify himself in his wrong course, in defiance of the reproof of Samuel, and the Word of the Lord by the mouth of His prophet.  Such obstinacy in a known transgression, separated him forever from God.”  4aSG:76.

“When King Saul realized that he had been rejected by God, and when he felt the force of the Words of denunciation that had been addressed to him by the prophet, he was filled with bitter rebellion and despair.  It was not true repentance that had bowed the proud head of the king.  He had no clear perception of the offensive character of his sin, and did not arouse to the work of reforming his life, but brooded over what he thought was the injustice of God in depriving him of the throne of Israel and in taking the succession away from his posterity.  He was ever occupied in anticipating the ruin that had been brought upon his house.  He felt that the valor which he had displayed in encountering his enemies should offset his sin of disobedience.  He did not accept with meekness the chastisement of God; but his haughty spirit became desperate, until he was on the verge of losing his reason.”  PP:643.

Second Kings 5:18:  “In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon:  when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.”  Note that one should be cautious when worshiping in a denomination that they know to have incorrect doctrines.

[3] Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the {WHEN} Sabbaths and in the new moons. [9] But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate:  he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it.”  Note that our Lord requires order, offerings, and where they are to take place.
