JESUS IN THE QUR'AN

In the Qur’an, Jesus is called a “Prophet” and “Messenger from God.”  This isn’t about the Qur’an’s claim to truth against Christian claims.  It’s about what is the truth.

Jesus is “Isa,” or “XIsa” in Arabic.  The Qur’an mentions Jesus in 93 verses, across 15 Sura’s.  It gives Jesus a status even more majestic than that of Muhammed.  In fact, Muhammed’s statis is that of a minuscule human.

The Qur’an gives Titles of Jesus that are unique and loaded with God-Like meaning; and in some cases, dangerously close to what Christians have always claimed about Jesus.  He is called “Al-Masih,” meaning, “The Messiah.”  Of course, this Title is NEVER explained in the Qur’an.  By contrast, Christian and Jewish sources can.

Another Title is “Kalimatullah,” in the Qur’an, meaning, “The Word of God.”  Of course, this is explained in the Christian Book of John, Chapter One, as being God The Creator of everything Himself.  For the Qur’an to apply this Name to Jesus is remarkable.

Jesus is called “Ruhullah,” meaning, “S Spirit From God.”  This Title is not given to Muhammed or any other messenger.  This elevates Jesus beyond the human only statis it gives to Jesus in other places.  Herein lies the deceptions in Islam and the editing of the Qur’an.

The Qur’an also teaches that Jesus was born of a virgin and performed miracles no other prophet did; noting that Muhammed performed no miracles; even when asked to do so in Sura, Chapter 17.

Jesus, in the Qur’an (Sura 3:49 ), is said to create life (a bird) from mire clay and raising of the dead.  That would match the creation of mankind by “GOD” in the Book of Genesis (2:7).  The Qur’an even claims that Jesus is alive with God now, awaiting His return to this earth (Second Coming).  Therefore, logically, the Qur’an is pointing out that Jesus is God.  However, later (changes) editions of the Qur’an add the words, “by Allah’s permission,” in an attempt to explain away these miracles and Deity of Jesus.  That explanation actually only highlights the problem for Islam.  No other prophet was permitted to do such things.  Therefore, consider why Jesus was?  Or better, that He did those things because He was God Himself.

Without sounding to close to Christian claims, Imoms and Islamic scholars struggle to explain away these truths in the Qur’an that it claims about Jesus.  These Titles could teach Muslims the truth about Jesus -- God in the flesh.

The Qur’an repeatedly claims (see Sura 5:46 as an example), that Jesus was given “the Gospel,” “Ingil” in Arabic, which confirmed the “Torah,” which came before.  If, as Muslims claim, that this is not speaking about the “Gospel,” then where is this other Book.  History finds none.  No trace of any other Book.  No fragments; no writings; no script about any other such Book by any historians; either Greek, Jewish, Chriatian, or Muslim.  If the Muslim claim of another Book is true, then where is it?  If it refers to the Gospels, those Books contradict Muslim claims about Jesus.  In either case, the Qur’an’s claims collapse against the weight of historical evidence, EVERY TIME; let alone its false claims about Jesus.

In Sura 19:19, it presents Jesus as “sinless.”  That is only a God-Like quality.  Do you get the picture yet?  Even Muhammed is told to seek forgiveness for his sins.

Muhammed died and is buried in Medina, while Jesus is in Heaven.  Muhammed does not return, while Jesus is awaiting His return.  Muhammed receives no exalted, Divine Titles, while Jesus does.

In Sura 4:157, the Qur’an makes one of its boldest claims about Jesus -- that He was not killed, nor crucified.  With that one claim, Islam should die out.  History, not just Jewish and Christian sources, but many non-religious and heathen historians, authors of secular books, letters, and writings, confirm this First Century event with more historical accuracy than any other historic figure of the time period.  In fact, more non-Christian historical references and documentation to Jesus are more prevalent than that of such recent figures such as President Donald Trump.

Crucifixion was not a hidden act.  It was a public Roman execution carried out by Roman authority.  And if you believe the Romans did not know how to properly perform one, I have a 500-acre oil field for sale for you.  The death of Jesus is so well recorded by non-Christian historians that to deny it is to claim your birth certificate is a fake.

By denying the Crucifixion, the Qur’an puts itself at odds and against every First Century source historically that we possess.  It offers no alternative event, except to say it didn’t happen; or that it “appeared” to happen.  No eye witness testimony or any sort of timeline.  This creates a theological problem for the false claims of the Qur’an.  Which as you know, would make it a false book.

The evidence is in Islam’s own book in regards to the Titles it gives to Jesus.  The question is, will you seek out the True Jesus, the One in the Book of John (Gospels; Ingil), the Book the Qur’an acknowledges as being true.  See my Study:  “QUR’AN AND THE GOSPELS.”
